Blue Deer Center News

You may have heard about it. We have been talking about it for months now. You will soon be receiving an online survey to see where our dreams will take the Blue Deer Center. This survey was created by a very committed group of volunteers over the past 6 or so months - K’anna Burton, Cristian Valenzuela, Mark Gionfriddo, Bill Sutton, and Andi Tilmann.

We have sections for each stakeholder (Plant Spirit people, Program Participants, Providers, etc.) at the Center. We really want to know what makes the Center work for you and how we may do a better job of fulfilling the Center’s mission as a home for ancestral traditions.

If you do not receive a survey or have any questions, please contact our Dreamcatchers at dreamcatching [at] bluedeer [dot] org.

A few people stepped forward and presented the BDC with a challenge this Fall to match their donation of $15,000. If we did, the Center could keep it all to produce our first beautiful catalog that will reach an estimated 80,000 people.

Well, thanks to all of you out there in the world whose donations ranged from $3 on up, we made it with a grand total of $35,453. Thank-you, thank-you all!

With a New Year, new goal, new slate of activities, new and old friends combined with the land and river that the Center is part of, we are on our way to nourishing people. Last year we Prepared the Ground so that we could Plant the Seeds this year.

Our goal is to raise at least $225,000 to meet the many growing needs of the Center from facilities to outreach to Elder support to possible scholarships to land acquisition. If you are interested in helping with any of our many projects or just to learn more or even just to talk, please drop me a line, and I will happily call you. – peterbrown [at] bluedeer [dot] com
